Julius Martin Humpert
Julius Martin-Humpert is an interdisciplinary artist who combines classical sculpture, multimedia installations and digital media. His works are created through the interaction of material and concept and often take social and political issues as their starting point. He examines how social phenomena influence our perception and interactions and develops works that encompass both physical objects and immersive experiences. In doing so, he invites people to take a new look at the connections between past and future, individual and society, and analogue and digital worlds.
Depending on the project, his focus is on material, sound, space or working directly with people. This flexible approach lends his work a constant dynamism and enables innovative approaches that raise questions about social change and the relationship between material, people and the environment. In doing so, he questions the boundaries between analogue and digital forms of expression and explores new ways of artistic exploration.
One focus of his practice is the social dimension. Martin-Humpert sees art as a tool for collective creativity, participatory processes and interdisciplinary exchange. Through workshops, interactive projects and art actions, he creates platforms for dialogue and collaboration, actively involving the audience in his artistic processes.
His most recent projects include ‘The one get stuck by bees’ (Display Gallery, Prague, 2024), ‘Gatekeeper Radio’ (online platform, 2024), ‘Striving for Common Access’ (Regionale 25, M54 Basel, 2024), SACRED SOIL’ (Kaiserwache KW, Freiburg, 2023), “Caleidoscopio” (Museo Irpina, Italy, 2022). For his work, he has been honoured with the City of Freiburg Promotion Prize (2024) and the OpenArt22 Jury Award (2022), among others.
