Annina Haab

So I read, so I write, so I ask myself what it is at all, such a language, such a system of signs, such an immaterial material, such an imaginary tool. What it is at all, such a text, such an objectification of a sound, such a storage format of thoughts put into form, such a spatially and temporally extended or torn apart conversation in which I am not present. In which my body is released from its duty of re-presentation because the text does not need it, not as a voice, not as a presence. The text leaves without me, I stay here and miss it, the time we spent together. The text does not come back to me. So I try to get into a new conversation and it takes a long time until something is there that can withstand the questions and the accusations, so I walk on shaky legs, a long time until it is decided how to say what is meant, or what wants to be meant. ...would like to get in my word, or at all.
Annina Haab, *1991 writes prose and radio plays. Her first novel Bei den grossen Vögeln was published by Berlin Verlag and was awarded the Kranichsteiner Literaturförderpreis 2021.
