What the Water Gave Us

With: Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva, Saba Niknam, Cemre Nomer, Deirdre O’Leary, Andrea Perales, Kathrin Stalder
Curated by: Isabel Balzer, Alexandra Stäheli

The exhibition What the Water Gave Us brings together six artistic positions from London, Strasbourg, Oaxaca, and Basel. Through diverse approaches in textile and sculptural forms, the artists explore questions about the value of material things and the values that underpin our society. In times of socio-political upheaval, which shells and skins are worth protecting? Who defines the value of waste? And which elements are essential and non-negotiable for our lives? Water serves as a unifying motif—a source of life, a symbol of transformation, and a mirror of social processes.

A collaboration between Atelier Mondial, Artstübli Kunst & Kultur, and Kunsttage Basel.
