Vincent Gallais
Vincent Gallais was born in the Parisian suburbs in 1991. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art de Dijon (ENSA) in 2014 and from the Haute École des Arts du Rhin (HEAR) in 2017.
"For some time now, I have been questioning the way we frequent, inhabit and conceive spaces, whether they are urban, architectural, domestic or mental. These territories are materials of thought, places where the limit is tenuous, where encounters occur successively and succinctly. Reflecting these interests, my research is protean, passing from drawing to sculpture, from photography to installation, I try to better understand my direct environment by drawing from what it offers me.
Lately, my interest has been focused on obsolete objects: a form of sacredness of "inanimate" waste, overcoming the recurrent indifference that one can have towards these materials which seem to me, on the contrary, to be in a situation of high potential (as much on the functional, aesthetic and conceptual levels). In my eyes, objects are also spaces, in that they allow us to project ourselves into an imaginary world, whether collective or individual."
