Isadora Vogt & Othmar Farré
Isadora Vogt’s paintings, collages and drawings combine folkloristic and fairytale motifs with Fraktur typeface and historical references. Through found objects and other archival materials, like stationary paper, cutouts and photographic references, she combines various techniques and display strategies to juxtapose meanings from different contexts. Often what seems innocent, vulnerable and cute appears potentially threatening and the domestic sphere takes on an uncanny dimension. Isadora Vogt lives and works in Basel, Switzerland. In 2021 she received her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Arts in London. 2016 she graduated with a BA in Fine Arts at the Art Institute of HGK Basel. She has shown her work in national and international exhibitions. Her most recent exhibitions include solo shows at Baleno International Gallery (Rome, 2022), Sundy Gallery (London, 2021) and Sentiment (Zurich, 2021); and group shows at Derosia Gallery (New York, 2022), Union Pacific (London, 2021), Kunsthalle Basel (Basel, 2020) and Weiss Falk Gallery (Basel, 2020).
She has received funding and grants such as Christina Spoerri Prize, Kiefer Hablitzel Prize; GGG studio grant in Basel; Credit Suisse‘s video art advancement award, CH.
Othmar Farré (born 1985 in Brig, CH) is an artist living and working in Basel. He studied Fine Arts at the Städelschule (HFBK) in Frankfurt am Main and the Glasgow School of Art (GSA).
He treats art-making as a material and social process. His playful approach to production actively embraces the dialogic and performative aspects of perception and interpretation. His multilayered works remind us of the inescapable subjectivity through which we all must navigate (our) realities and the inherent fragility, humor, and absurdity contained within them. Exhibitions include: Paint by Numbers, Galerie Eva Presenhuber, Zürich (2022), Group show, die Treppe, Basel (2021); Given Circumstances, Milieu, Bern; Zur frohen Aussicht, Ernen (VS); Le ciel, l’eau, les dauphins, la vierge..., Forde, Geneva (all 2019); Foundation Painting Show Glasgow International, Glasgow (2018); Beyond the Real, Kunsthalle Basel (2018); As you here as we are, Spreez, München; All you need, Riverside, Bern (both in 2015). He has received funding and grants such Werkbeitrag Kunstkredit Basel-Stadt.
