COMICS AT WAR: The Ukrainian cartoon magazine INKER
The exhibition "Comics in War", which takes place from 10.04-24.04.2024 at Atelier Mondial, sheds light on the experience of war through the lens of the Ukrainian comic magazine INKER. INKER was founded in 2022 as a human rights project and, since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, has developed into a unique platform for journalists, scriptwriters and illustrators that closely combine social reportage, documentary authenticity and journalistic integrity with the dynamic art of comics. Beyond the big headlines, INKER offers artistic perspectives on real-life stories of civilians of different ages, professions and social status in various war-related situations.
At the exhibition opening on April 10, 2024 at Atelier Mondial, members of the INKER team, Ruslana Koropetska, Diana Lanovets and Lyudmyla Samus, will talk about their work. In the workshop "Drawing the War" on April 12, 2024 at the Basel Cartoon Museum, they will provide insights into the creation of documentary comics in an extreme social situation. The workshop is open to everyone, registration is requested: https://cartoonmuseum.ch
